NCAA Basketball: Updated early top-25 rankings for 2021-22 after NBA Draft deadline
This offseason for NCAA Basketball has continued to provide major storylines for the upcoming season. Between the explosion of the transfer portal, huge head coaching changes, high school recruiting sagas, players choosing whether or not they would accept an extra year of eligibility, and most recently big NBA Daft decisions, many teams have seen their respective coaching staffs and rosters go through some big changes.
It’s had an effect throughout NCAA Basketball, particularly when it involved the NBA Draft. Due to the pandemic and its impact on the pro league’s schedule, the deadline for college players to withdraw from the draft process has been extended to July 7th, a month later than normal.
There were a ton of players who were involved in the process, including several All-Americans from last season. In years past, several of these guys would’ve stayed in they got a promise to get drafted.
However, stars such as Kofi Cockburn, Marcus Carr, Marcus Bagley, Johnny Juzang, and March Madness mid-major star Max Abmas all decided to return for the 2021-22 season, with several of them still free agents after deciding to enter the transfer portal.
While there are still some decisions left to be made that’ll have an impact on the overall hierarchy on the 2021-22 season, many of these teams’ rosters are set, giving us a chance to evaluate them. Here’s an updated look at who I currently have as the top-25 teams for the upcoming NCAA Basketball season.
