CG Anthony Black (No. 7 CG, No. 40 overall)

Team: Iowa State, Oklahoma State

The recruiting cycle under TJ Oltzelberger has started off very well in the Class of 2022. The Cyclones have two commits, including top 100 recruit, four-star Combo Guard Eli King.

Although George is considered the best guard in the state of Texas, Black might be the best combo guard from the Lone Star State. Black has shot up recruiting boards, with excellent play in the EYBL and story of being a two-sport athlete, as a three-star wide receiver at Coppell High School.

His six-foot-seven-inch frame helps him tremendously on defense and helps him guard all of the perimeter positions. On offense, he is a good ball-handler for his height but lacks a consistent shot.

That has been the premise for players in the NBA draft. With a chance to work on a shot, as long as they exude athleticism and competent defense, and rebounding ability, they’ll be highly regarded within the professional ranks.

For Iowa State and Oltzenberger, they are completely re-building the foundation and have two elite guards coming in within the next few years. Alongside King, the Cyclones landed Top-40 prospect Tyrese Hunter in the previous class to spark the future of the program.

Oltzenberger filled up quite a bit of the playing time next year, through transfers with Rasir Bolton, Tyler Harris

For Oklahoma State, adding a Cade Cunningham caliber player shows Stillwater can be a competent place for a blue-chip player to get their recognition. Although Boynton is further along than Oltzelberger, Black would be a tremendous addition for the core that is already in Stillwater, barring transfers.

Black is not the highest-rated player on the board but is the highest-ranked that is probable of heading to Oklahoma State.

Prediction: Oklahoma State
