SEC Basketball: Updated early power rankings for 2021-22 season

As the 2021-22 SEC basketball season begins to creep closer and closer, things have arguably never been better for the conference on the hardwood.

After an arguable down year for SEC Basketball as a whole in 2020-21, the same cannot be said going into the 2021-22 season. In fact, one could argue that of all the conferences in college basketball, the SEC has had the most entertaining and action-packed offseason.

Countless transfers, players involved in the 2021 NBA Draft, recruiting, and more. The news and overall action surrounding the SEC this offseason has been never-ending, with the only thing missing at this point is the action on the court.

When looking at the SEC as a whole entering the 2020-21 season, the conference features some of the top overall recruits and transfers in the nation. Sporting at least nine NCAA Tournament caliber teams at the moment, you don’t have to look very far to see that this conference is deep going into this season.

About three months ago I posted a “way-too-early” look at the SEC going into the 2021-22 season. Not too long after the 2021 NCAA Tournament, the news from the transfer portal was in full force, along with numerous other changes to teams.

However, as the deadlines to enter the transfer portal and NBA Draft have now passed, SEC rosters are now beginning to look clearer by the day, and are pretty close to what they will be for the 2021-22 season.

So with that being said, let’s take a look at the updated SEC Basketball power rankings as we begin to count down the days to tip-off for the 2021-22 college basketball season.
