Mountain West Basketball: Top 10 returning players for 2021-22 season
July 2021 – Only four months remain until the 2021-22 NCAA basketball season commences.
…I can’t be the only one counting down, right?
With July 7 marking the NCAA’s official deadline for college basketball players to withdraw from the NBA Draft while maintaining collegiate eligibility – We have officially entered an entirely new phase of the off-season. Though transfers, personal situations, and other unpredictable shifts can always occur, we now have a much clearer picture of what our favorite teams’ rosters might look like come tip-off in November.
With the ongoing Mountain West Basketball news drought, I posed a question on my Twitter page, asking followers for thoughts on potential content: As a result, my writing and stat-searching gears got to turning again.
Sports rankings, in and of themselves, are always somewhat controversial. Rankings often lead to debate and discussion. Depending on which way your opinion leans, these debates can even lead to division.
Keeping that in mind, rankings are still one of my favorite concentrations of content, and with the aforementioned clearer roster picture, I thought I’d put together a list of the top ten returning players in the Mountain West Conference. It may be totally subjective. You can let me know in the comments, or shoot me a message on Twitter (@LoboSauce_777).
Admittedly, it was challenging to compile this list, and a few great players just missed my cut – Notably, Hunter Maldonado (Wyoming), Trey Pulliam (San Diego State), Marcus Shaver, Jr. (Boise State), Deon Stroud (Fresno State), and A.J. Walker (Air Force). I’m happy to include an honorable mention for them, and perhaps you could swap a few names on this list with theirs. I’d love to discuss.
Now let’s dive in.
