Atlantic Sun Basketball: In-depth look at Eastern Kentucky star Jomaru Brown

Conference realignment was back in full swing again this offseason and as of July 1st, 2021, Atlantic Sun Basketball gained another member and it is a member who is going to give the conference a boost. Eastern Kentucky had been a member of the Ohio Valley Conference for 73 years. 1948 was the first year the Colonels began their tenure as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. The 2021-2022 season will be the first year of competition in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

The Atlantic Sun has been dominated the last two seasons by the Liberty Flames and the Flames have not only dominated the conference but have also been one of the better mid-major teams in the country that last few years. The Atlantic Sun has not provided much competition for Liberty in the last few seasons. Eastern Kentucky is hoping to change that and they should provide an uptick in the competition level for the whole conference.

Anyone who has followed Eastern Kentucky basketball over the years has seen the Colonels have a ton of talent that they have never been able to put it all together. Former Fordham Rams coach Jeff Neubauer was the last coach to get the Colonels to the tournament.

Current head coach A.W. Hamilton is likely going to make a huge push to get back to the NCAA tournament this season. Especially since he has his star in Jomaru Brown back from injury. The first year for Eastern Kentucky in the Atlantic Sun should be a good one.
