From the moment Texas Tech Basketball lost to Arkansas in last year’s NCAA tournament, it’s been a non-stop roller coaster of emotions for Red Raider fans. Chris Beard departed to his alma mater, Texas Tech lost nine players from last year’s roster to the transfer portal or NBA, fan-favorite, and West Texas native Mark Adams was hired as head coach, and now August is approaching, and Texas Tech has put together a legitimate top-25 roster.

When you take a look at what Mark Adams has been able to do thus far, it’s nothing short of miraculous. When Chris Beard left Texas Tech, he took practically the entire staff to Austin other than Mark Adams and Sean Sutton who opted not to join Beard at Texas. He also took the only 2021 recruit Texas Tech had signed in Jaylon Tyson. Beard left the program in a deflated state with an abundance of question marks. Not only did Adams have to fill out an entire staff, but he also needed to start recruiting, and quickly.

Due to the timing of the Mark Adams hire, he was already at a disadvantage on the recruiting trail considering most programs had been contacting transfer prospects for weeks at that point. All of this said, somehow, Adams has been able to put together one of the most talented rosters Texas Tech has had in recent memory in a short amount of time.

With things finally beginning to settle down, let’s take a look at what a starting lineup could look like for Texas Tech next season:
