NCAA Basketball: How Keyonte George can impact each team in his top 5
By Andrew Tineo
Six-foot-four guard Keyonte George announced on Twitter on Monday, that he has set a commitment date for August 8. George is rated the No.1 shooting guard in the class of 2022 and is the fourth-ranked overall recruit, according to 247 Composite.
George brings a smooth scoring ability, with elite quickness and his efforts on defense can be a plus in any of the five team’s systems.
Over two months ago, all signs were pointing toward George playing professionally for one season, before joining the NBA Draft pool. On May 20, George released his top five, which consist of Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, and Texas.
All five programs have made headlines at some point over the past five seasons. Kansas has consistently won Big 12 championships, Baylor is coming off a national championship and Oklahoma State garnered the services of the No.1 overall recruit in last year’s recruiting class in Cade Cunningham.
As long as John Calipari is in Lexington, he’ll have Kentucky in any top five recruits’ team list and Texas has the most momentum coming out of the off-season, with Chris Beard joining and among the most talented rosters in the country next season.
Rosters take shape in a years span, especially with the portal becoming a hot commodity. Each team’s guard situation is expected to be completely different in a year from now and that bodes well for George and how much impact he can have on a team.
