Alabama Crimson Tide

The drama all offseason for Alabama was mainly with the shooting guard position, with both Joshua Primo and Jaden Shackelford at one point leaving the team for either the NBA Draft or transfer portal. In the end, the junior guard Shackelford opted to come back, giving them a 15 ppg scoring option for the preseason top-15 team.

The odds are very good that Shackelford won’t be around after next season, which would leave former five-star recruit Nimari Burnett on the roster. This is a program under head coach Nate Oats that has thrived on offense and has sent multiple players already to the NBA, including Primo ending up as a lottery pick. Sharpe can come in and have a major impact and can do essentially the same thing as Shackelford; going for 15 ppg as a freshman and future 1st round NBA Draft pick.

Arizona Wildcats

New head coach Tommy Lloyd had to revamp the Wildcats backcourt after losing Terrell Brown, James Akinjo, and Jemarl Baker, Jr. Rising sophomore guards Kerr Krissa and Dalen Terry will be back, along with transfers Justin Kier and Pelle Larsson. It’ll be interesting to see how international four-star prospect Adama Ball looks like as a freshman in what will be a fairly young backcourt overall.

The biggest selling point for Sharpe is that he can come in at Arizona Day 1 and be a major star and leading scorer on a nationally relevant program. But if both Bennedict Mathurin and Azuolas Tubelis leave after next season, the five-star recruit won’t be surrounded by enough talent to likely be on an NCAA Tournament team. And considering we’ve yet to know how good Coach Lloyd is now that he’s away from Gonzaga, Arizona is somewhat a risky spot.
