San Diego State

These coming years could see massive change on the conference landscape, leading to additions in the ACC, Big Ten, and Pac-12 as well. San Diego State might slide into the Pac-12 as a better fit, but that isn’t to say the Aztecs couldn’t succeed in the Big 12 if expansion came to pass. The Aztecs have recently excelled at basketball, becoming the conference’s best program since Brian Dutcher’s recent promotion (and perhaps even long before then).

The football team would struggle initially in the Big 12, though they have been good enough to make a bowl game after ten of the last eleven seasons. With former coach Brady Hoke back in charge of football, San Diego State could be a power in the sport again in the near future, though it would take a bit of time for them to become a power in the Big 12.

There’s plenty of exciting things happening at San Diego State and this is certainly a team that won’t be left out if there’s a grand scale expansion in the near future. Not only would they get the Big 12 into the market in Southern California, but their basketball program could compete for conference titles from day one.
