20. Luke Loewe – Minnesota

Starting off the list of notable Big Ten transfers is former William & Mary guard Luke Loewe. The 6-4 combo guard is more than capable of becoming the Golden Gophers starting point guard as the 2020-21 season begins, despite spending most of his floor time at William & Mary as a small forward. While being named to the 2020-21 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Defense First Team, Loewe averaged over sixteen points on almost 44 percent shooting from the field.

A lot of Loewe’s points came from his ability to take CAA defenders off the dribble and hit open shots. A skill set that will be challenged more in the Big Ten, especially when his 30 percent from beyond the arc is taken into consideration, and it will be heavily considered by opposing Big Ten defenders.

For the sake of creating some reference, Virginia was the lone opponent William and Mary played who ranked in the top 140, a game in which Loewe scored five points while shooting two for ten from the field. Loewe’s greatest contribution will come from his almost 86 percent success rate from the free-throw line and had only turned the ball over more than three times once last season, two important qualities that successful point guards tend to have.

The transfer projects to remain a double-digit scorer while improving on the three assists per game he averaged last season, Loewe however, will not be the force he was in the CAA when conference play begins.
