NCAA Basketball: Top 25 team frontcourts heading into 2021-22 season
In a conference with a ton of star big men, freshman Hunter Dickinson managed to stand out in a big way. Despite being on a roster filled with seniors and a lottery pick talent in Franz Wagner, the center still led Michigan last season in both points (14.1 ppg) and rebounds (7.4 rpg). The All-American big went through the draft process and opted to return, leading a young, but ultra-talented frontcourt for Michigan.
The team has two five-star recruits coming in Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate. Houston is a 6’8 combo forward with a face-up game that has tremendous offensive potential. Diabate is more of a project but has raw potential in his own right, capable of playing both center and power forward positions. With Dickinson around, look for them to have a major impact as a freshman without having much pressure to produce 15 ppg.
The frontcourt will have some experience returning in Brandon Johns, Jr., who managed to carve out a role as an elite “glue guy”, who can defend multiple positions while also capable of scoring when given the chance.
This is a collective group with tremendous potential to be the best in the Big Ten. They have their star back in Dickinson and multiple top-20 overall freshmen to join and Houstan is someone who could be a national star in his own right. With no real holes among these forwards and centers, look for the Wolverines frontcourt to remain near the top.
