One-armed player earns first D-I scholarship

Hansel Emmanuel Donato Domínguez, from the Dominican Republic, lost his arm when he was buried in rubble for two hours after a wall collapsed on him. But that hasn’t stopped the 6-5 guard from living his life or following his dreams and he was awarded for his hard work and dedication by Tennessee State as the Tigers offered him a scholarship.

"“Blessed to receive my first D1 offer from Tennessee State university,” Donato Domínguez, 17, announced to his 596,000 Instagram followers on Thursday. “Thank you for believing in my talents.”"

The 6-6 Donato Dominguez appeared in just seven of Life Christian Academy’s (Kissimmee, Fla.) 21 games but he made a huge impact in those games, averaging 25.9 points along with 11.0 rebounds, 6.9 dimes, 2.6 steals, and 3.4 blocks. He was highly efficient, registering 1.7 points per game, as he connected on 72% of his field-goal attempts, 62% of his 3-point tries (13 of 21), and was 80% from the charity stripe. Donato Dominguez scored at least 18 points in each contest and topped the 30-point mark twice.
