Three Guard/Small Forward

Starter: Jaden Shackelford

Starting at the three-guard/small forward will be Alabama’s 2020-21 leading scorer; Jaden Shackelford. After testing the waters in the transfer portal this past offseason, Shackelford made the decision to return to Alabama, and he will also undoubtedly do so as a starter.

In 2020-21 Shackelford played 33 games and averaged 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and was named to the Second Team All-SEC, so getting Shackelford back for his junior season is huge for Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide.

Shackelford is a very talented player at getting to the rim and finishing as last season he held a .474% two-point percentage, and he is also a very good three-point shooter as last season he held a .342% three-point percentage. Shackelford has the ability to be one of Alabama’s best players once again in 2021-22 and because of that, he will undoubtedly be one of Alabama’s starters.

Bench: Nimari Burnett/Keon Ellis

Off the bench at the three-guard/small forward position I would also expect to see Nimari Burnett again. Burnett is a 6’4” guard who is capable of holding his own, and is a bit taller than Quinerly who stands at 6’1”. That being said, I would expect to see Burnett start here quite a bit as well, but for the most part, I think he will be getting minutes off the bench at the two, and the three.

We have already talked quite a bit about Ellis, standing at 6’6” the three-guard would be a good spot for him, and I would expect to see him a little bit in all three guard positions in 2021-22.
