NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Ranking rising senior Justyn Fernandez’s top 10 teams
Rising high school senior and NCAA Basketball prospect Justyn Fernandez has seen his recruiting take off this summer.
2022 3-star small forward/shooting guard Justyn Fernandez saw his recruitment pick up following a strong spring grass-roots session with DC Premier and a good run at the Pangos All-American Camp.
"“Our second tournament at the Southern Jamfest I had a really good showing, and everything has changed since then,” Fernandez told 247Sports. “I play fast paced, I’m a high-flyer, I run in transition and on defense I try to get stops."
The 6-5 wing has received all 28 of his offers after June 1 this year. He recently announced his top-10 list, which included Boston College, Florida, George Mason, Virginia Tech, Providence, Princeton, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Rhode Island, and Clemson.
Fernandez has put up decent numbers over the last two seasons at Richmond (Va.) Monacan averaged 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals in 22 appearances.
Here is a look at each of his 10 finalists. Fernandez talked to 24Sports Eric Bossi about some of the teams that made his finalist list.
10. Boston College Eagles
Boston College is starting a new era under Earl Grant. Grant replaces interim coach Scott Spinelli in the first seat after the Eagles went 4-16 last season, marking their fewest wins since 1945-46. BC, which last posted a winning campaign in 2017-18, went 71-132 under Christianson. Meanwhile, Grant recorded a 127-89 record in six campaigns at the College of Charleston.
The Eagles need an influx of talent, although the small forward is pretty set for the next few years with Drexel transfer TJ Bickerstaff and former 4-star recruit Dermar Langford Jr.
9. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Steve Forbes is trying to turn things around for the Demon Deacons, but they have recorded just two winning seasons in the last 10 years and have not reached the NCAA Tournament since 2017. The Deacs could use a huge influx of talent.
8. Rhode Island Rams
David Cox will try to get the Rams back on track following a disappointing 10-15 campaign in 2021-22. Rhody does need help at the wing positions going forward.
