NCAA Basketball: 12 potential milestones to watch for 2021-22 season
Jordan Bohannon – Iowa
Milestone: 400 made three-pointers
Almost 72 percent of Bohannon’s field goal attempts have been from beyond the arc. To put that stat into more perspective, Iowa’s starting point guard is only 20 made three-pointers from having three times the amount of made three-pointers as two-pointers. This is why Bohannon is just 36 made three-pointers away from hitting the 400 milestone.
Beginning the counting from the 1985-86 season, the 6’1 guard sits at No. 42 in career-made three-pointers with his best season coming as a sophomore when he connected on 96. While it is not expected that Bohannon will repeat career-best numbers, as the loss of Luka Garza will result in an extra 16 shots attempts to go around, but similar to the aforementioned Antoine Davis, the attempts will be challenged more consistently without Garza attracting so much attention.
The guard hit a season-high eight three-pointers versus Nebraska and had four other games with five makes or more. Even if he only meets his career-worst season and connects on just 79 three-pointers, a new total of 443 would place him ahead of Stephen Curry and Markus Howard and just one made three-pointer from tieing Chris Clemons at No. 5 since the 1986-87 season. Four hundred made from beyond the arc is nothing less than impressive, but to not only be named among the greatest but to actually surpass them is a milestone in itself.
