The first couple of days of September has seen a lot of recruiting NCAA Basketball commitments and news. Here are some involving Miami, Texas, Duke, and Florida.

The Miami Hurricanes receives first commitment from the class of 2022

3+-star 2022 small forward Christian Watson has ended his recruitment by verbally committing to the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday. One of the biggest risers in the class, Watson chose Miami over offers from Georgetown, Xavier, and Marquette, among others. He is Jim Larranaga’s first commitment from the high school senior class.

"“I feel like Miami is a great program and a great fit for me,” Watson told DuShawn London of 247Sports.  “They’re losing a lot of guys next year and I feel like I can come in and get a lot of playing time as a freshman although nothing is given. I like the idea of coming in right away and playing a huge role in the ACC under coach Larranaga.” “The visit played a lot in this decision,” he continued. “The campus is beautiful and the vibes down there are really cool. I still think highly of the other schools but Miami was just the one for me with the amount of people they’re losing and the opportunity to earn playing time as a freshman.”"

The 6-6 wing is an effortless athlete who can score on all three levels. He possesses a nice jumper, is a good distributor, and has the ability to score at the rim.

Watson is all over the recruiting boards, with ESPN ranking him as the No. 89 rated prospect while 247Sports lists him at No. 145 and 247Sports Composite has him at No. 90. Meanwhile, the Washington (DC) native is unranked by Rivals.
