One of the best perimeter prospects in the 2022 NCAA Basketball recruiting class is Cason Wallace, a 6’4 combo guard out of Richardson, Texas. While some “combo guards” tend to have a preferred position one way or another, Wallace truly can shine either on or off the ball.

The guard is a quality scorer, capable of shooting it from deep or driving to the basket and creating his own offense. Wallace is a good distributor of the ball and run the offense, while able to make his teammates better and put them into a position to succeed. His size gives him the benefit to also be a good rebounder and can defend multiple positions.

From the start of his recruitment, there have been a few teams in the running to land Wallace. And now, we have official word from the man himself as to who the finalists are.

The likes of Kentucky and Texas making the group isn’t a surprise at all, and neither truly is the Tennessee Volunteers, who have been in the mix since the beginning. The eye-scratcher is Texas-San Antonio, a middle-tier program in Conference USA.

However, for those who don’t know, Cason is the younger brother of Keaton Wallace, a four-year starter and elite scorer for the Roadrunners, who averaged over 16 ppg this past season. That connection has this program in the running and don’t overlook them, as five-star forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. recently picked his father and coach at Milwaukee over the mighty Duke Devils.

This recruitment isn’t over yet, as official visits are in the works over the next several weeks. Here is a closer look at the pros and cons of each option for Wallace.
