Another day, another top-100 NCAA Basketball prospect taking the next step in their respective recruitment. The latest is Ty Rodgers, a consensus four-star recruit from Grand Blanc, Michigan. He’s a 6’7 wing with great size and versatility and can score and rebound at a high level.

Rodgers is the consensus top class of 2022 prospect in the state of Michigan and has been a priority for many top-tier programs in the region, including several from the Big Ten. There have been some rumored frontrunners for Rodgers and based on the latest update, they’re still in the running.

There has been a feeling that both Michigan and Michigan State are in the lead but some recruiting updates overall in the class may have changed things. All nine programs could use Rodgers, who according to 247sportsComposite is close to cracking the top-50 overall could use the 6’7 wing, who has all-conference potential.

Now that we know who is in the official mix, here’s a closer look as to how Rodgers would fit with each contending program.

Alabama Crimson Tide

While the Tide has been busy going after five-star guard and center targets, they could use another wing on the roster in the future. They do have four-star freshman forward Jusaun Holt around but he can play some at the four-spot if needed. There’s also guards Keon Ellis and Texas Tech transfer Nimari Burnett that has the size to play the three-spot but Rodgers has the physical skills to defend true small forwards in the SEC.

Rodgers could really thrive in the offensive system for Alabama and the playing time would be there for him. He could play a similar role that Herb Jones did this past season and this program has become a force in NCAA Basketball. If he’s willing to leave the Midwest, the Crimson Tide makes a lot of sense.
