UConn Huskies

The Huskies already have done a good job reloading on the frontcourt for the future, adding top-40 center Donovan Clingan and top-60 combo forward Alex Karaban, who can play some at the wing. Rodgers is a more natural small forward option and both he and Karaban would compliment each other well on the court.

There’s plenty of room on the roster for Rodgers as well, as the only true wing on the roster, Tyrese Martin, is entering his senior campaign for UConn. The four-star prospect can legitimately start as a freshman for the Big East program and get plenty of playing time as well.

Illinois Fighting Illini

The Illini has a ton of guards in both the 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes that are between 6’4 and 6’6. That includes 6’4 guard Sincere Harris in next year’s group. Rodgers has the ability to play some small-ball four, which will be the primary lineup Illinois uses this upcoming season anyways. It actually presents an opportunity for Rodgers to display his versatility and not be stuck at one position, which would help his NBA Draft stock.

Illinois’ chances to get Rodgers likely will depend on what happens with Cam Whitmore, a top-30 small forward prospect that is down to three options. If he picks either North Carolina or Villanova, then this team has a real shot at landing the recruit in question. Otherwise, you might as well view it as a top-8. But in that scenario, the Illini still gets a top-tier small forward.
