Marquette Golden Eagles

Under new head coach Shaka Smart, the Golden Eagles have added a lot of both guards and forwards. But none of them are true wings unless you want to put 6’5 freshman guard Emarion Ellis there. Either way, there is plenty of room for Rodgers to come in and get immediate playing time, by being able to not only play in the Big East but also close to home as well.

The only concern here is that Coach Smart doesn’t have a great history with developing wings, dating back to his time at Texas. He sent a number of bigs to the NBA Draft but several former top-100 small forwards struggled with him, which led to a ton of three-guard offenses. It may be a coincidence that doesn’t matter anymore but something to consider for Rodgers.

Memphis Tigers

All of the attention involving Memphis has been about recent five-star commits, Jalen Duren and Emoni Bates. They won’t be around a year from now but the other small forwards will. That includes four-star freshmen, John Camden, Joshua Minott, and Johnathan Lawson, as well as 6’7 forward and class of 2022 commit Noah Batchelor.

That kind of logjam just simply makes the Tigers a mega longshot here, as Rodgers may not getting playing time in the first couple of years. And that doesn’t even including five-star wing target Chris Livingston, who has Memphis under consideration. Unless he really wants to play for this AAC program, I don’t see how they have much of a shot here.
