Season Outlook

In a month or so the top 25 rankings will be announced before the season and Notre Dame will obviously not be there. When the ACC preseason rankings come out my prediction would be for the Irish to be in the 7th to 10th range overall. The ACC like any other year is going to be a force, but with the experience that Notre Dame has coming back, I think a ranking between 7th to 10th would be fair for them.

The biggest question for the Irish is can they put it all together for a whole season? With their roster makeup, I really believe they can be competitive in the ACC.  I am not saying a top 4 finish, but you can still compete without finishing in the top 4 in the ACC. They have shown flashes over the last few years with being able to beat some ACC powerhouses here and there, but they have not been able to do it on a regular basis in a few seasons.

The ACC should be looking at getting 8-9 teams into the NCAA Tournament in 2022 which puts Notre Dame in the conversation based on my prediction of them being ranked in the 7-10 range in the ACC preseason rankings. Notre Dame has not made the big dance since 2017 but can see that changing and having their name called on Selection Sunday in 2022.
