Starter: Kalib Boone

Boone came on strong toward the back half of the season for the Cowboys and is set to make a massive impact in 2021-2022.

His notable performances included 22 points over Texas and 21 points against Baylor.

Boone has made improvements in every area of his game since 2019-2020 and has the potential of being a consistent double-double player.

His shot-blocking ability is the best on the team, after swatting 1.6 blocks per game last season, and is expected to average a deuce a game.

The role of Boone is tricky, with the bench player getting a huge chunk of minutes. How Boynton rotates and substitutes will be the verdict as to how Boone performs this year.

Bench: Moussa Cisse/Bernard Kouma

Outside of Thompson, the biggest acquisition in the off-season came from Cisse.

Cisse was impressive in his lone season with Memphis, averaging 6.6 points and 6.3 rebounds, while shooting 55.2% from the field.

Cisse earned American Conference Freshman of the Year and is going to get a bunch of minutes for the Cowboys.

Due to experience within the system, I expect Boone to be the day one starter, but the depth Boynton has added for this roster is astonishing.

Kouma was making strides in big areas, including 10 rebounds in a road win over No.6 West Virginia. His role was expected to be expanded until Cisse announced his intentions to join the Cowboys.

With Cisse in the fold, Kouma might get lost in the shuffle and his role will be limited in 2021-2022.
