Kentucky Basketball building super-class with addition of Chris Livingston
With the commitment of Chris Livingston, Kentucky Basketball now has the number one ranked class in 2022.
Death. Taxes. And Kentucky Basketball having the number one recruiting class yet again. All is back to normal in Lexington, Kentucky after Chris Livingston committed to the Wildcats Wednesday night.
Livingston, a 6-7 forward from Akron, Ohio, joins the 2022 class with the consensus (ESPN, 247, Rivals, On3) number one player in the country Shaedon Sharpe and top 25 point guard Skyy Clark.
When asked why he committed to Kentucky, Livingston had this to say.
"“I would say the culture around Kentucky. The atmosphere. I just love the coaching staff, they was really on me. They showed me that they wanted me. They showed me that they cared about me. So that’s what I went with. I’ve been a fan of Kentucky since I was younger. Kentucky and Ohio State.”"
Calipari was on Kentucky Sports Radio last week (just below) and shared a little tidbit of information that many in the college basketball world has wondered about.
Livingston, who won the Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior at Buchtel High School, shot 56% from the three-point line and had a field goal percentage of 70. That is going to allow Calipari to open up the floor for a ton of playmaking and could be very dangerous. In 22 games last season Livingston averaged 31.1 ppg, 6.5 assists, and 15.8 rebounds per game.
Not only will Livingston allow Kentucky to play 4-out like Calipari was preaching, but he will help generate a plethora of transition buckets. Livingston could make a living by simply bullying his way to the basket and dunking on whoever is in the way. He’s a very physical player, who can handle the ball like a guard and create his own shot.
Furthermore, Kentucky is not finished with this class. They are very good position with 5 stars Dereck Lively, Cason Wallace, and Adem Bona. Cason Wallace is getting close to his commitment date, November 7th, although many believe that date will be moved up to a sooner date. I’d say it’s a safe bet that Calipari gets at least two of the three.
In the 2022 class, Kentucky Basketball is battling with the likes of Duke and North Carolina also getting top-tier recruits. But with who potentially is coming to the Wildcats in the next few weeks, odds are good that they’ll have the No. 1 overall class and be a preseason top-5 team for the 2022-23 campaign.
Good times are back in Kentucky, and it looks to be here to stay.
