Rhode Island Basketball: Projected starting lineup and depth chart for 2021-22
Although this is an exciting season for the Rams, there are still many questions that Rhode Island Basketball fans have following a disappointing season. Will Coach Cox be on the hot seat or potentially receive an extension? How will Makhi Mitchell perform after coming off an injury-ridden season?
How much of an impact will a packed Ryan Center make against big programs? These are all things that Rhody fans are wondering going into what could be one of the biggest seasons the program has seen in recent years.
For Rhody, the opportunity to turn the page and start fresh comes behind the excitement of the fans. Many people are thrilled to get back into the stands repping Keaney Blue to watch their team and to provide the energy.
The Rams lineup returns a lot of last year’s players who are now upperclassmen. The veterans include Jeremy Sheppard, Malik Martin, Allen Betrand, and Antwan Walker. The Rams also added more senior leadership with the addition of Ball State transfer Ish El-Amin.
“This is the most talented team I’ve been a part of since AAU. Guys have been committed to having a great year, sacrificing things for the success of the team. And that’s a huge first step,” El-Amin said.
Although the Dan Hurley era is officially over in Kingston with Fatts Russell transferring, the players that Coach Cox will have to work with this season allow for the Rams to compete with the other big dogs of the Atlantic 10 Conference. With that, let’s look at the depth and projected lineup of the 2021-22 Rhode Island Rams.
