NCAA Basketball: Top returning players to watch for 2022 NBA Draft
Other players to watch
Another three-and-D prospect who could have gone last season, Kansas’ Ochai Agbaji should benefit from playing next to more primary creation this year. He has the body and micro-skills defensively of an NBA wing, he just needs to find consistency as a shooter.
Duke’s Mark Williams had a really strong end to last season. He’s still a bit raw but has size and athleticism that at least project him to be a bench center at the next level. He’s not a huge upside prospect, but there’s enough of a floor.
In what’s widely viewed as a weak point guard class, Illinois’ Andre Curbelo and TCU’s Mike Miles both have a chance to play their way up boards. Curbelo is a gifted playmaker but was a non-shooter last season. He now gets full reigns of the Illini offense, but with his lack of size, he needs to be a threat from deep. Miles is much more well-rounded and does a little bit of everything, but is also undersized and lacks an elite skill right now. I have no doubts he’ll be productive this season, but can he find that bankable NBA skill?
Baylor’s Matthew Mayer had some terrific on-ball flashes for the national champs last season. Now with a bigger role, he’ll get the chance to turn those flashes into more consistency. His exact role is hard to pinpoint, but he’s got size, shot-making, and underrated athleticism.
