The Arkansas bench

Last season the Razorbacks went nine deep and they should be as deep if not deeper this season. One of the key reserves should be senior guard JD Notae who slid right into a bench role after transferring from Jacksonville, scoring 12.8 per game. One of the things Musselman likes about Notae is his ability to come off the bench and score points in a hurry, as evidenced by the 14 points in 15 minutes in the loss to Baylor.

The Arkansas bench has a little more length to it with the three other transfers, Trey Wade (Wichita State), Kamani Johnson (Little Rock), and Jaxson Robinson (Texas A&M) all measuring 6’6 or 6’7 with the former two likely to make more of an impact than Robinson, especially Johnson who sat out last season but had five double-doubles in 2020 with a 32-point and 16-rebound effort against Arkansas State.

Connor Vanover is now 7’3 and should once again be the backup big man behind Williams. Khalen Robinson is another jitterbug guard that only played in 11 games last season due to injury, but could find his way into the rotation. It’s not just transfers and returnees that are looking to make an impact for the Razorbacks; Chance Moore is a four-star recruit from Georgia and the 6’5 freshman scored 19 points per game as a senior and he could give Musselman yet another piece to add to his ultra-versatile roster.
