"“All due respect, you got no f—g idea what it’s like to be Number One. Every decision you make affects every facet of every other f—g thing. It’s too much to deal with almost. And in the end, you’re completely alone with it all.”"

Earlier this spring, leaked recordings emerged from a meeting held between Wisconsin’s coach, Greg Gard, and his players. The recordings painted a less than flattering image of Gard and basically accused him of not caring about his players. Gard and Wisconsin issued statements, the Badgers made no move to relieve Gard of his coaching duties, and it seemed like the end of the story.

As you can probably guess, that was not the end of the story. In August, reports came out that Alando Tucker, a member of Gard’s coaching staff for the past few years, was the one who leaked the reports in an attempt to dethrone Gard from his HC position. Tucker’s alleged failed coup resulted in him leaving the program following the season.

Gard learned that sometimes when you’re the boss of the family, you better watch your back even around your own people. It’ll be interesting to see how Wisconsin rebounds from all the drama surrounding the program.
