NCAA Basketball: 2021-22 season preview based on quotes from the “Sopranos”
By Tommy Farmer
"“F*****’ Rasputin, this guy.”"
Remember when Chrissy and Paulie get in a dust-up with a guy they go to collect cash from, end up killing him, and need to put him in the trunk to go dispose of his body, but then when they get there and open the trunk, he’s alive? Then as he’s running away, Chrissy appears to shoot him in the head, but they never find the body? They said that the dude was an ex-military guy who killed sixteen Czechoslovakians, but I’m pretty sure it was Will Wade.
How Wade still has a job after the countless leaked conversations and accusations made against him about paying players is astounding. And at this point, I genuinely don’t think he cares. Now, can I confirm that there is something illegal going on in Baton Rouge? No. Does it seem like the worst kept secret across college basketball that there is, though? Yes. At this point, it’s impressive that Will Wade keeps pushing the legal issues to the side and acquiring new talent.
The Tigers added transfers Xavier Pinson, Adam Miller, and Tari Eason, and also swooped in during the 25th hour to snag coveted big Efton Reid. LSU should be in the mix again this year as a top-25 team.
"“You’re only religious when it suits you.”"
Realignment, realignment, realignment. When does it ever end? The wheels have already started churning with announced future departures and entries into the Big 12. Texas and Oklahoma are set to join the SEC, while BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF will soon join the Big 12.
It’ll be very interesting to see how continued movement affects the college hoops landscape when it’s all said and done. Will Gonzaga switch conferences, and if they do, will they join up with the other Catholic schools in the Big East? Or will the Zags chase the money if they decide to relocate?
There are many questions left to be answered regarding the future that could be answered this season.
