Starting lineup

PG: Brad Davison, Senior

Brad Davison is one of the few recognizable names from the most recent era of Badgers basketball and will be the central focus of opponents this season. As a senior, he averaged 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He’s been one of the most reliable players in Wisconsin history, already ranking in the top five in starts and three-pointers made in school history with another season to go. This will be the first time he’s really the guy for the program, though.

SG: Jonathan Davis, Sophomore

While his fellow backcourt mate is part of the old guard, Jonathan Davis is part of the new guard. Davis was the top player off the bench last season, averaging 7.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. The former four-star recruit had a massive against Penn State at the beginning of February when he dropped 17 points with a perfect 4-for-4 performance from three-point land. His development will make or break the Badgers.

SF: Tyler Wahl, Junior

As a sophomore, Tyler Wahl showed some potential, starting over half of the team’s games and averaging 5.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest. Wahl isn’t likely to become a dynamic scorer this season, but much of his production will depend on improving from three-point distance and the free throw line. He hit just 27.8 percent of his threes and 56.7 percent of his free throws last season.

PF: Ben Carlson, Sophomore

Power forward is probably the starting spot most up for grabs entering the season. Ben Carlson is a former four-star recruit, but missed all but seven games of his freshman season with an injury. In those contests, he averaged 2.9 points and 0.9 rebounds per game. He’ll still have an opportunity to progress during his sophomore season and potentially secure the heaviest load at power forward.

C: Chris Vogt, Senior

Chris Vogt comes over as a transfer from Cincinnati. What the Badgers are getting in Vogt is a defensive stopper, one who finished fifth in the AAC with 1.1 blocks per game. He’s not much of s a scorer, though, averaging 5.0 points per game and never scoring more than 13 last season. He could also be a better rebounder, with just 3.5 boards per contest.
