Season outlook

It’s been awhile since Wisconsin had a truly down season. Because of that, it’s hard to predict it will happen this year – the Badgers always find a way to pull through. But this could be a tough season for Wisconsin.

Brad Davison is a great player and Jonathan Davis has the ability to be the same. But the rest of the starting lineup is filled with question marks and simply doesn’t stack up well with the upper echelon of Big Ten teams.

The bench could be intriguing to look towards for help. There are a couple of freshmen and transfers that will have opportunities to make an impact right away. Perhaps a star or at least a reliable regular emerges from the pack.

The Big Ten is also going to be a challenging conference again this year. Purdue, Michigan, and Ohio State should all be elite. Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, and Rutgers are no slouches either, not to mention Illinois. How Wisconsin breaks into the top half of the conference is anyone’s guess.

Next. Big Ten questions and storylines. dark

Greg Gard’s team should be able to carve out a top ten finish in the Big Ten, but anything beyond that might be asking too much in a transition year with a lot of players to replace. An NCAA Tournament bid seems unlikely, though a trip to the NIT is not out of the question.
