If you were to look for potential breakout candidates as we enter the 2021-22 college basketball season, you can find countless potential options from SEC Basketball.

The SEC as a whole saw a few notable players enjoy breakout seasons a year ago, most notably Alabama guard Jahvon Quinerly, Auburn guard Allen Flanigan, Florida guard Tre Mann, and more. Each of these players took the next step during the 2020-21 campaign and saw themselves rise into stardom within the conference because of it.

When looking ahead to potential candidates entering the 2021-22 season, there are a few who certainly stick out most within the SEC as a whole. To do this, incoming freshmen will not be factored in, and we will only use players who either saw action a year ago or missed the season due to injury.

First, however, there are a few players that need to be mentioned as well as potential breakout candidates, each of whom could be primed for a massive 2021-22 season as well:

  • F Jaylin Williams – Arkansas Razorbacks
  • F Juwan Gary – Alabama Crimson Tide
  • G Matthew Murrell – Ole Miss Rebels
  • C Dylan Cardwell – Auburn Tigers
  • G Eric Gaines – LSU Tigers
  • G Khalen Robinson – Arkansas Razorbacks

Factoring in both returning players within the SEC, as well as transfers, here are six potential breakout candidates for the 2021-22 SEC Basketball season.
