Clemson: Al-Amir Dawes and P.J. Hall

Decrease in production: Al-Amir Dawes

The Tigers’ backcourt was unsettled at the conclusion of last season and was going to be in the same state as the 2021-22 season began, but,  all that was prior to David Collins (12.5 ppg) to Clemson in August. The 6’2 Newark native started 15 games, fourteen of those starts were during the first fifteen games of the schedule. Dawes’ last start came in the final game of the season.

Despite the back and forth last season by head coach Brad Brownwell at the point guard position, it is expected that Coach Brownwell will reinstate Nick Honor as the starting point guard as Dawes backs up Honor and Collins. If Honor fails to improve upon his 39 percent shooting, Dawes could see more minutes, but it will not be for 25 minutes and it will not be to attempt seven field goals.

Increase in production: P.J Hall

As the No. 51st ranked freshman P.J Hall averaged 10 minutes a game while connecting on almost 50 percent of his shots to average slightly over three points.  With 6’8 Aamir Simms (29.7 mpg) graduating,  6’10 Jonathan Baehre (16.8 mpg) going pro in Europe, and 6’10 Lynn Kidd (4.7 mpg) transferring to Virginia Tech, the future is now for Clemson’s sole top 100 recruit, as far as Coach Brownwell is concerned.

Clemson’s official roster has Hall at an inch taller and 15 pounds heavier than he was according to 24/7 sports at the beginning of last season. The additional size will aid him in averaging over seven rebounds and as he attempts more than the three field goals he attempted last season.
