Thanks to a discouraging 2020-21 campaign at TCU Basketball, Jamie Dixon is on the hot seat going into the 2021-22 season. Of course, the Covid-19 virus made last year challenging for every Division 1 program, but that doesn’t mean that we should ignore the Horned Frogs’ struggles last year.

Although last season started to go downhill shortly after December, TCU managed to get off to a hot start in 2020. The Horned Frog’s first contest against Houston Baptist on November 25th was a breeze, as they cruised to an easy 69-45 victory over the Huskies. The Horned Frogs knocked off their next three opponents by a total of 15 points, but they finally tasted defeat against Oklahoma and Providence to fall to 4-2 on the season.

TCU responded to the adversity they faced early in the year by winning their next five games, with two of those victories coming against Big 12 opponents (Oklahoma State and Kansas State). Unfortunately, however, TCU’s next five games went in the opposite direction, as the Horned Frogs took a step backwards and failed to win a contest between January 5th and January 30th.

TCU did triumph against Oklahoma State and Iowa State following their 5-game losing streak to move to 11-7 overall and 4-5 in the Big 12, but the Horned Frogs lost 7 of their remaining 8 games and finished the season 12-14 overall and 5-11 in league play.

At this point, many individuals know that there is pressure on Dixon to move TCU’s program forward in year 6, but how much pressure would I say he is under as we approach the 2021-22 season? Well, let me take some time to analyze Dixon’s coaching resume before I attempt to answer that question.
