Starting lineup

PG: Boo Buie, Junior

Boo Buie is more than just a legendary name – he’s an integral part of the Northwestern program. Buie averaged 10.3 points per game, his second consecutive campaign averaging double-digits. He also led the team in assists (96) and three-pointers made (41), hitting 36 percent of his threes. His 4.0 assists per game ranked seventh in the Big Ten and he should be the main floor general once again.

SG: Chase Audige, Junior

After a redshirt season following a transfer from William & Mary, Chase Audige made an immediate impact with the Wildcats, averaging 12.3 points per game. He also made a big impact defensively, where he averaged 1.5 steals per game. Audige needs to cut down on fouls and increase his putrid free throw shooting, but the potential is there.

SF: Robbie Beran, Junior

This will be a big season for Robbie Beran. He has started a majority of his games in his first two seasons in Evanston, but has yet to average more than 5.7 points per game. Last season, Beran also averaged 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. His game is steady, a nicer word for unspectacular. Can he take a step forward this year?

PF: Pete Nance, Senior

It feels like Larry Nance Jr.’s younger brother has been at Northwestern for a decade now. Truly, this is Pete Nance‘s fourth go-around with the Wildcats. He averaged 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while showing improvement from three-point land, where he hit  36.4 percent of his attempts. His 98.6 defensive rating last season ranked 15th in the conference.

C: Ryan Young, Junior

After starting in his first year and playing reasonably well, Ryan Young retreated to the bench last season, averaging 7.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He should get a shot to start once again during his redshirt junior season. Young’s best asset is his two-point shooting – he hit 57.5 percent of his twos last season, sixth in the Big Ten.
