Oregon State Basketball: 2021-22 season preview and outlook for Beavers
By Tuck Clarry
Team Outlook
Expectations can be a tricky thing for teams that overperform in March. It’s tough to see Oregon State match their finish from last season, but it’s not implausible to see them staying within a lot of games this season and finishing above .500.
They do have a lot of returning pieces, which is invaluable for a team looking to make another run into March basketball. Almost all of the guys earning minutes for this team are upperclassmen.
If a couple of these new additions stick, the Beavers should be fighting for a top-half finish within the conference. They were picked to tie for fourth with Arizona in the preseason conference poll, likely a sign that voters didn’t want pie on their face like they did last season undervaluing Tinkle’s team.
With a solid top-half of the conference, expect the Beavers to be in the conversation in the second tier of USC, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington State. Ultimately, it could be the conference tournament that decides who the late additional bids for the Pac-12 will be and we know that the Beavers have no issue in mucking things up.
