Reserves for Robert Morris Basketball

SR – Ferron Flavors

2020-21 stats (at Oklahoma State): 3.4 ppg, 0.8 rpg

The 6’3 guard failed to get in going with the Cowboys last season in the crowded backcourt but RMU is hoping to get the Fairfield and Cal Baptist version of Flavors, where he was one of the best mid-major three-point shooters in the country. He very well could be a double-digit scorer once again in the Horizon League and a lethal shooter as well either as a starter or 6th Man.

There’s a real chance that Flavors starts at the three-spot instead of the younger Farris but the 6th-year transfer isn’t 100% at the moment just days before the start of the season. That could create a scenario where he comes off the bench once fully healthy but would be a great scoring option to have in the second unit.

JR – Justin Winston

2020-21 stats (at St. Bonaventure): 3.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg

The 6’8 forward didn’t get it going with the Bonnies, transferring early to the Colonials last year. He’s arguably the best frontcourt athlete on the team and is capable of shooting from the perimeter and driving to the basket from outside. He adds something different to the lineup other bigs on the roster doesn’t and should be an impactful newcomer now that he’s eligible.

SR – Jaron Williams

2020-21 stats (at Tennessee-Martin): 10.3 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.4 apg

Williams was a double-digit scorer in his lone season of D-I basketball with the Skyhawks as a starter. He’s capable of having big games, going for 20+ points on four different occasions, while being a solid three-point shooter. Just as important is that Williams is a 6’6 guard that gives the Colonials plenty of size at the wing spot when going up against bigger perimeter players on defense.

SO – Enoch Cheeks

2020-21 stats: 4.9 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.7 apg

The 6’3 guard started four games last season and was part of the rotation in his freshman campaign. Cheeks is a solid defender and have long-term potential but with all the new guards joining, it’ll be hard to see where his minutes come in 2021-22 unless he improves his three-point shot.

SO – Mattia Acunzo

2020-21 stats (at Toledo): 5.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.9 apg

The 6’8 forward may not be great at anything but all-around is a good frontcourt player on both ends. Acunzo shot 40% from three-point range on 37 attempts and can play defense at a high level. He has “glue guy” potential in the frontcourt in spot minutes and 15.0 mpg is realistic for Acunzo here.

JR – Brandon Stone

2020-21 stats (at La Salle): 1.3 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.3 bpg

Stone is the tallest player on the roster at 6’11 and is looking for more minutes than he originally got at La Salle. He’s a solid offensive weapon and against very big frontcourt players could see some minutes as well.
