UNC Basketball: 2021-22 season preview and outlook for Tar Heels
2021-22 outlook for UNC Basketball
Overall, the Tar Heels return several key contributors and also acquired three key transfers and two four-star freshmen with very real potential.
While it might not sound like the greatest record on the surface, I could see UNC putting up a 23-8 season this year. Given their strength of schedule, this would be more than enough to keep them as a top 20 team entering the ACC Tournament as one of the top 3 teams in the league.
The preseason AP Top 25 has North Carolina ranked No. 19 in the country, with our team here at Busting Brackets ranking them quite similarly at No. 17. Regardless of preseason rankings and polls, this team will have more than enough talent to compete with Duke and Florida State atop the ACC, which would be a welcome rebound from the last two seasons in Chapel Hill.
The Hubert Davis era has begun in Chapel Hill, with expectations remaining as high as ever. I am of the mindset that his charisma as a recruiter and experience as a player and coach under both Dean Smith and Roy Williams will be more than enough to carry his tenure to the level of success expected from every UNC head coach.
