Alabama basketball enters the 2021-22 season in a somewhat unfamiliar way, they enter the season ranked 14th in the nation, which is the first time they are ranked in the preseason AP poll since 2011. The Crimson Tide are also coming off their first Sweet 16 appearance since 2004, and their first SEC Regular Season Championship since 1987.

All that being said, there are a plethora of expectations being placed on this Alabama basketball team. For the first time in what seems like forever, Alabama is entering a season with the expectations of being a team that is capable of competing for the National Championship.

Although the Tide lost key players in last year’s SEC Player of the Year Herb Jones, plus key players in Josh Primo, John Petty, Jordan Bruner, and Alex Reese, they also added some key players in JD Davison, the 12th ranked player overall in the Class of 2021, Furman transfer Noah Gurley, other incoming freshmen, and they also get Alex Tchikou who missed last season due to a torn ACL, but Tchikou was the 11th ranked Power Forward in the Class of 2020.

All that plus they return their leading scorer from last year in Jaden Shackelford, a player named to the Bob Cousy Award watchlist this season in Jahvon Quinerly, and plenty of other players who are expected to make the Crimson Tide a legitimate threat, not only in the SEC but for the National Championship as well.

Unfortunately for the Tide, they lost star transfer, Nimari Burnett, for the season, as Burnett suffered a knee injury in September. Burnett was expected to play a large role for the Tide this season.

Nonetheless, Alabama has a very good team, led by a budding star head coach in Nate Oats, but what will their 2021-22 season look like?
