Alabama Basketball: 2021-22 season preview and outlook for Crimson Tide

Schedule Outlook

Alabama will open up their season at home against Louisiana Tech on November 9th, they will then be in action once again at home against South Dakota State on November 12th, South Alabama on November 16th, and Oakland on November 19th.

After that the Tide will head to Orlando for the ESPN Events Invitational, with their first game being a Round of 64 rematch from last year as they play Iona on November 25th, should Alabama win that game they would play the winner of Belmont and Drake, and should Alabama win both of those games, they would play either Kansas, Miami, North Texas, or Belmont.

The month of December is when Alabama’s schedule really kicks it up a notch, the Crimson Tide will head to Seattle for a game against the current number one team in the nation, Gonzaga on December 4th, which is the first game of the neutral site series the two agreed two, with the second game taking place in Birmingham next year.

After Gonzaga, the Tide’s next game is against another Final Four team from last season, the Houston Cougars on December 11th, and then they have their third straight game against a ranked opponent when they head to Memphis on December 14th.

After Alabama’s game against Memphis, their schedule slows down before SEC play begins, as they host Jacksonville State on December 18th, and Colorado State on December 21st.

Following those two games, SEC play kicks off with the Tide’s first game being at home against 18th ranked Tennessee on December 29th, then they hit the road for games against Florida, and Missouri, on January 5th and 8th.

The Crimson Tide will then host 22nd ranked Auburn for “The Iron Bowl on Hardwood” on January 11th, before heading to Starkville to take on Mississippi State on the 15th. After their game against the Bulldogs, Alabama will head back home for two games as they host LSU for an SEC Championship rematch on January 19th, and Missouri on January 22nd, then they hit the road for a game against Georgia on January 25th.

After that Alabama plays their final non-conference opponent of the season, and their third opponent from last year’s Final Four, when they host Baylor on January 29th, as part of the SEC vs. Big 12 Challenge.

The Tide then opens up February with two straight-ranked matchups when they’re on the road for a game against Auburn, and then at home for a game against 10th ranked Kentucky. They will then hit the road for a game against Ole Miss on February 9th, before hosting 16th ranked Arkansas, on February 12th.

After that the Tide host Mississippi State on February 16th, then they head to Rupp Arena for another game against Kentucky on February 19th. Alabama then closes out their regular season on the road against Vanderbilt, at home against South Carolina, and Texas A&M, and wrap up their regular season on the road against LSU on March 5th.
