Wake Forest Basketball fans are rightfully reticent to cast their eyes away from the undefeated football team, arguably the best squad in school history, and a frontrunner to steal the ACC crown. For those fans: As you were.

For other Demon Deacons supporters, however, it’s time to look at the upcoming college basketball season. Wake Forest is a historic program with players like Chris Paul and Tim Duncan, but it’s been lean times as of late.

Last year, Wake Forest went just 6-16 overall and 3-15 in ACC play during Steve Forbes’ maiden voyage in charge of the program. Three of the wins came against Delaware State, Longwood, and Catawba – so not an inspiring start for the Forbes era.

The Demon Deacons may once again be pegged to finish near the bottom of the conference. But progress will be expected in Winston-Salem, either for the team’s performance on the court or its recruiting off of it.

And Forbes has scored some wins on the recruiting trail. Point guard Carter Whitt was a top 75 prospect when he agreed to join the Demon Deacons. He averaged 4.7 points and 2.7 assists per game during his freshman season and showed promise.

The team also brought in a solid haul of additions, from freshmen to transfers. The most exciting among them is probably Indiana State transfer Jake LaRavia, an efficient scorer who can be a starter right away for the Demon Deacs.

That’s all good for the future, but how does Wake Forest stack up for the 2020-21 season? Let’s take a look at the Wake Forest starting lineup.
