Season Expectations for the Flames

There is no excuse for the Flames to not sweep the A-Sun and win it handily. Liberty has by far the best talent and coaching in the conference. The key here is for coach Ritchie McKay to figure out the rotation in non-conference play.

But McKay already has a great foundation with reigning A-Sun Player of the Year Darius McGhee. Blake Preston was the second-leading scorer for the majority of the season last year and will get even more touches with Cuffee and Parker graduated.

Liberty has some early power five tests against LSU and Missouri to measure where they are against some of the SEC’s best. We all know Liberty is by far the favorite to win the A-Sun but where they are among the nation’s best is the question for this team.

I think Liberty will sweep the A-Sun regular season and tournament. But where they stand against the nation’s best is what I question. Liberty will get the auto-bid from winning the A-Sun and I think that this team has the potential to make a Cinderella run in the NCAA Tournament.
