Gonzaga Basketball looks to notch their second victory and land their first win within their daunting sleight of high profile top 10 matchups Saturday night against the 5th ranked Texas Longhorns. It’s perhaps the biggest high-profile game in the McCarthey Athletic Center’s history, surpassing the 2011 contest against Michigan State or the 2019 game with North Carolina.

Head coach Mark Few is 3-0 against the Longhorns, last beating them 76-71 in overtime at the 2017 PK80 Invitational in Portland. The Zags are 1-0, coming off of a 97-63 win against Dixie State on Tuesday, where five different players scored 11 or more points. In a game where they didn’t find separation until about eight minutes into the second half, the Zags depended on their defense and frontcourt to pull ahead.

Coming off a 14 points, 13 rebounds, 7 blocks and 6 assists game, all eyes will be on Chet Holmgren to see what he and the Zags are able to do against the Longhorns and head coach Chris Beard’s physical defensive system. Here are the big keys for the Zags to take the ‘horns down.
