21. St. Bonaventure Bonnies (1-0)

The Atlantic 10 as a whole has had its fair share of struggles, leaving the Bonnies as the undisputed best team of the league. But even they were off to a slow start against Siena before going off in the second half to win with a comfortable margin of 75-47. Jaren Holmes and Kyle Lofton each had 17 points to lead the way, while Pitt transfer Karim Coulibaly added 12 points in 17 minutes off the bench.

St. Bonaventure takes on Canisius on Sunday before facing off against Boise State of the Mountain West, who has a solid roster of former power conference players. They’ll pose a test but the defensive strengths that the Bonnies have should be the difference against a Broncos squad that struggles to score at times.

20. Tennessee Volunteers (1-0)

The Vols had just one game in the first week, beating Tennessee-Martin by a final score of 90-62. Five-star freshman guard Kennedy Chandler and Santiago Vescovi each had 20 points to lead all scorers, while Olivier Nkamhoua got the start in the frontcourt and finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Tennessee will stay local on Sunday, facing off against East Tennessee State, before having several days to prepare for a big matchup against the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday.

19. North Carolina Tar Heels (2-0)

Most of the talk surrounding the Tar Heels this offseason revolved around the revamped offense, thanks to transfer pickups Brady Manek and Dawson Garcia, along with the expected growth and development of guards Caleb Love and RJ Davis. We’ve seen it early on in wins over Brown and Loyola (Maryland), although giving up 87 points to an Ivy League program at home was a bit eye-opening.

UNC will be tested in a big way this week, taking on College of Charleston on the road before facing off against top-10 Purdue on a neutral site. Love and Armando Bacot have been good as expected but the defense will have to do better to go 2-0 in the next week.
