Notre Dame Basketball: Takeaways from season opening win over CSUN
Blake Wesley had great debut for Notre Dame
Blake Wesley was a really good recruit for Notre Dame to land in the 2021 recruiting class since he was right in their backyard being a local kid from South Bend. He did not wait long to get the Irish fans talking about him at the collegiate level as he had a huge game to start off his career at Notre Dame.
The freshman guard scored a team-high 21 points (4-6 from three), 1 rebound, and 1 assist in his Irish debut. Wesley brings much-needed athleticism off the bench that Notre Dame is lacking and really going to need moving forward in the season. This is just a small sample size with it being the first game of the season but it shows that he does belong playing at a place like Notre Dame in the ACC.
Brey usually does not like to play freshman right away unless they really stick out or he is forced to on his end because of depth. Wesley is definitely a guy that really sticks out for the coaching staff as he was the first one off the bench along with guard Trey Wertz on Saturday. The future is very bright for Blake Wesley in South Bend.
