2. Which upset caught your eye the most and why?

Navy beating Virginia. There were some roster concerns for UVA heading into this season, but it seems like most people (including myself) shrugged them off and decided to trust Tony Bennett and the system. The loss to Navy made me reconsider if their talent really did drop off that significantly this season.

Navy beating Virginia in Charlottesville. While Virginia didn’t play the best game they could’ve, Navy shot an impressive 52.4% from three (11-for-21), and deserved to win this game.

I’m not sure anything prepared me for Dartmouth – who got blasted at Boston College a few days prior – waltzing into Georgetown, sporting one of the most inefficient offenses in the country, and subsequently drilling 16 three-pointers en route to building a 22-point lead at one point in the first half.

We knew Georgetown would take a step back with Jahvon Blair, Jamorko Pickett, and – in particular – Qudus Wahab gone, but the Hoyas still had a star guard in Dante Harris and a quality transfer in The Citadel’s Kaiden Rice, but this was an incredibly disappointing performance for a team that became one of basketball’s darlings last March. For what it’s worth, the Hoyas did suffer an early, disappointing home loss last year to Navy, and still had the aspiring ending come the end of the season – so there’s still time for Patrick Ewing to turn things around.

Florida upsetting Florida State definitely caught my attention. I think Florida is a misunderstood school that doesn’t get a lot of respect for its talent. The upset wasn’t even close, a 71-55 win. If I were the rest of Florida’s non-conference schedule, I would not overlook them.
