Arizona

Last season, the Pac-12 really shined on the biggest stage, with numerous of the conference’s programs putting together fantastic runs during the NCAA Tournament. The Pac-12 as a whole has been a bit down in recent years and this represented a potential step forward. Unfortunately, the conference is not trending upwards early on in this season, though one team, in particular, has stood out these first few weeks.

Arizona started this week off by winning the Main Event in Las Vegas, toppling then #4 Michigan by 18 points in a dominant effort. Christian Koloko gave the Wildcats 22 points in the effort and then added 20 in a laugher over Sacramento State on Saturday evening, giving Arizona a pair of wins on the week. That win over Michigan was almost a full week ago, but it’s still technically part of this past week and certainly stands out among the week’s games.

With the way things are going for the Pac-12, this Arizona team could very well find themselves as the favorite in the conference. No matter what happens with Michigan, that early win over the Wolverines will be very important down the line, and this hot start early certainly makes Arizona look attractive to the Selection Committee. Maybe new head coach Tommy Lloyd is going to turn things around far quicker than anyone thought?

We’ve finished our careful look at five winners from this past week, seeing that a few teams had some really good weeks early in this season. Who’s going to have the great basketball next week?
