For the past decade, ACC Basketball has arguably been the best conference in college hoops. Traditional powerhouses Duke and North Carolina have been constant Final Four threats, while programs such as Virginia and Florida State have emerged on the national radar as well. And the introduction of former Big East teams such as Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh only added to the overall prestige.

Things have been going well until the past couple of years, where the bids to the NCAA Tournament have been going from 9-10 to 4-5. This year, the number likely is closer to five than nine, based on what has happened so far in the 2021-22 season.

To start out, there were just three teams (Duke, North Carolina, Florida State) ranked to start out the season. However, losses to both the Tar Heels and Seminoles early on took them out of the equation. That left Duke, who defeated No. 1 Gonzaga last week to get a massive victory for both them and the league, which has had few big wins collectively in the non-conference.

Yet even the Blue Devils couldn’t avoid a loss, falling to Ohio State on the road. It was one of eight losses for the ACC overall, falling to the Big Ten in the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge, 8-6 this time. There were a couple of bright spots in the past few days but overall, there have been problems for the league.

So which ACC Basketball teams have over and underachieved so far this season? Here is my updated power ranking for the conference.
