NCAA Basketball: Ranking the final 8 unbeaten teams of 2021-22 season
3. Arkansas Razorbacks (9-0)
Among all of the schedules, the Razorbacks may have played the easiest. Their best wins to date include over Cincinnati and Kansas State, two teams that may or may not compete for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. And at times, this team has struggled to get past the mid-majors before running away late in games.
But the pieces are there for Arkansas to compete for an SEC title. Guard JD Notae has gone from SEC 6th Man of the Year to a potential SEC Player of the Year overall, leading the team with 18.7 ppg and 3.4 apg. Guard Davonte Davis (9.8 ppg and 3.9 apg) and big man Jaylin Williams (7.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg, and 4.0 apg) help out in the passing department, while Pittsburgh transfer Au’Diese Toney (13.7 ppg and 6.8 rpg) has been the versatile two-way guy needed for a vintage team coached by Eric Musselman.
Two other impact transfers adding to the depth includes Chris Lykes and Stanley Umude, combining to average 21.7 ppg off the bench. These were former all-conference caliber starters at their previous spots so this just shows how much talent is on this roster for Arkansas.
The Razorbacks will face their toughest test of the non-conference this weekend in a road matchup at Oklahoma. Get past that and you’re likely heading into SEC play without a blemish on your record.
