Blake Wesley is the most important player on roster
Blake Wesley is having a very good start to his Notre Dame career. The South Bend native wasted no time putting on a show under the bright lights against a huge program like Kentucky for the people of South Bend. The freshman guard connected on a jumper in the lane with just over 10 seconds to take the lead in the second half. Dane Goodwin capped off the game with a monster dunk right before the buzzer went off to make it a 66-62 final score.

Mike Brey knew that he had to get Wesley into the starting lineup last week replacing struggling senior guard Prentiss Hubb. Brey is very loyal to his guys, especially the seniors and did not want to bench Hubb. He just knew it had to be done because Blake Wesley just brings a different element of being able to create his own shot whenever he would like which is something that the Irish roster has lacked. The confidence that Brey has in Wesley is very noticeable to drawing up that play and putting the ball in his hands down the stretch in crunch time with the game on the line.
No disrespect to Dane Goodwin who is having a really good year of his own so far through the first eight games. It is just that Blake Wesley is the most important player for the Irish moving forward with what he brings to the team. It is really that simple.
Wesley has only played eight games in college so far but you would not know it based on how he has played. Wesley is already letting the college basketball world that he belongs on the big stage. Notre Dame has a very special player in Blake Wesley.
