Force the Red Raiders to beat you outside of the paint and with pressure

Texas Tech is by no means a lousy offensive team, but they don’t quite have the personnel or track record to suggest that they have the firepower that the Zags do. Much like the Red Raiders’ goal will be to force Gonzaga to beat them from outside, the Bulldogs should dare the Red Raiders to beat them away from the rim.

While Texas Tech is a 35% shooting team from outside, they look more to attack the basket rather than shoot from outside. Their 22 attempts per game has them around the middle of Division I in three-point attempts per game. Unlike Duke or Alabama, less than 30 percent of Tech’s points come from the perimeter. While the Zags defense hasn’t reached the level many thought it would, they still have shown a penchant for limiting opponents’ from getting into their ideal shot selection.

The absence of Wilson could be massive for this game. As the Red Raiders work to get their ideal looks, losing their leading assist man will no doubt affect their offense. Tech averages nearly 14 turnovers a game while playing the 244th KenPom ranked tempo. Wilson’s .9 turnover average was by far the lowest in the backcourt.
